Hi, I’m Bethany.
I’m a therapist that keeps it real.
Therapy should be a place where it’s safe to be you: your full, complete, messy, and wonderful self. Let’s talk about who you are now, and who you want to be. What got you here? Where do you want to go next? And how do you get there?
My goal is to help you discover new ways of looking at your life and learn skills that will help you move forward. You are the expert in what you are going through, but I will support and guide you as you set goals and make the changes you want to make.
Trust, openness, and communication are the foundation of how I work. I view counselling as the opportunity to have a meaningful conversation where you can discover something about yourself and move closer toward the life you want to live.
A life you can love.

I have been a Registered Social Worker for more than 20 years, and I've worked with people in all stages of life, with many different issues.
I also bring my own life experience. I'm a parent of two, a lifelong learner, a lover of books and the ocean, and I know what it's like to be a chronic procrastinator.
It is always a honour to work with people as they achieve the life they want to live.

I have a Master of Social Work with a Clinical specialization in Trauma Informed Practice, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
I am a member in good standing of the Alberta College of Social Workers.
I have training and experience in a variety of therapeutic modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Committment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (including for Chronic Pain and Insomnia & Nightmares), Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Clinical Hypnosis, and Mindfulness.
I draw from all of these approaches to tailor our work together to your specific needs.

You are always in control of what we talk about and how we work together. I aim to be flexible to your needs and it is important to me that we build a trusting safe space where you feel heard and supported.
Everyone has times in their life when they can benefit from support - take the first step.
I offer a free 15 minute consultation to discuss how I can support you in achieving your goals.
Therapy that’s a breath of fresh air - because the last thing you need is more pressure.
Therapy for individuals
Life is messy. It can feel like you have no choice but to continue going on as you always have, watching while other people know how to do the things that are hard for you. Whether it’s feeling sad, anxious, or angry, there are ways to move forward. I will listen, help you set goals, and work with you on strategies to make the life you want to live a reality. You can feel better and get back in control.
Therapy for trauma and PTSD
Trauma is any experience which overwhelms your coping resources. I will help you learn to safely move past what is keeping you stuck, whether it was a single event like a car accident, or an ongoing experience like childhood abuse. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based trauma therapies including EMDR and CPT.
Therapy for relationships
You’re not feeling as connected as you used to. You and your partner are struggling with communication, parenting, trust, and balance. Maybe it’s affecting your sex life. You want to approach life as a team again and you need help figuring out how. I use research based assessment & intervention techniques including The Gottman Method to help your relationship improve in the ways that are important to you.
Therapy for sleep and pain
Is your sleep quality poor despite everything you’ve tried? Are you seeking better coping strategies to manage chronic pain and health conditions? I offer a structured process using principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to get better sleep, and to improve your ability to cope with pain and other chronic conditions.
Therapy for professionals
That dream job comes with a lot of pressure and sometimes you wonder if it’s worth it. How do you keep it from taking over your life? Do you even like it anymore? I’ve worked with professionals in a variety of high-stress fields including human and veterinary medicine, aviation, academia, and finance. I will. help you to be intentional, to make changes, set boundaries, recover from burnout, and get your joy back.
Groups and workshops
I offer a variety of groups for clients experiencing anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and relationship issues. I can also custom design workshops for your employees or members of your organization, and I offer crisis support services when critical incidents happen. Contact me for more information.
